Mmm…Branding for Photographers…To go

2010 January 8

Happy New Year everyone! We’ve been busy bees over here at IDK. We are in the final phases of designing our own blogsite (Shoemaker’s shoes), where we cannot wait to blog like crazy. We have so many brands to talk about and feature. So many amazing clients we have worked with this year. We just launched our favorite blogsite ever (I’ll be blogging about that tommorrow).

We are particularly excited about our latest additions to Identity Cafe, which is our Branding To Go store. We are selling 6 new collections of marketing templates for photographers, that you can customize, update, take apart, print and generally use to promote the daylights out of your business.

Holiday Studio Hours

by identitykitchen

Happy Holidays everyone! Here at IDK we are going to be taking a little holiday break. We’ll be closing up the studio from December 23-January 4th to refresh and rejuvenate our creative juices. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about our schedule. Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year!

Hello Holiday Cards

2009 November 3

We recently added photography holiday cards to our répertoire, expanding Identity Kitchen to Identity Cafe. We are offering a 20% off through November 6th. Use code: IDENTITYCAFE20. Our Retro Collection is inspired by a simpler holiday time–of sugar cookies and peppermints and beautiful handcrafted cards. Your clients’ photos can easily be integrated into the template, and colors and inscriptions can easily be changed. There are 6 designs in all. Enjoy!

Kickin’ it with the B-School

2009 September 16

Justine and I were lucky enough to be included with Tim Holmes of Reddoor Creative, on the B-School’s latest video titled Branding 101. We talk about some of the challenges of branding for photographers and what to expect from your designer, while I wave my hands around like a crazy Italian. Check Becker’s plug here. It was super fun!

Saw this while I was doing some research on Jury Duty last week. Reminded me of my favorite show Mad Men. So wrong on so many levels. Are we gift wrapping the babies? Keeping their freshness in? My fav is the one trying to GET OUT!! Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day ;)

We’ve set aside our first two donations for Charity Water. We only have to raise $5000 to sponsor new well. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to our goal. They are such an amazing organization. After having spent time in Senégal, we saw first hand how beneficial and organization like this can be. Check them out here if you would like to get involved directly.

What Resonates?

2009 July 26

The thing about building your brand or your identity is developing something that resonates with you both as a business, and in a creative business–as an artist. Then, of course, we need to be a bit more strategic about its implementation. Don’t be afraid to trust your gut, we identify with art and design on a subliminal level which should never be ignored.

I often ask clients to send me visuals that speak to them. I’ve received photographs of interiors, paintings, photographs, furniture, even shoes. These are so telling, even more than the words I ask to describe their work and/or business.

ARTIST SERIES – CARA OBER from drury bynum on Vimeo.

I saw this video by the artist Cara Ober and her work was something I felt as if I identified with. Then I saw this painting on her home page and it completely made me smile. It actually made me laugh out loud at myself. Think I may give myself a break from all this strategy and planning and go with my gut a little more this week.

FPO

2009 June 16

We try and be as green as possible over at IDK. My theory is if you have to print make it worth it. Oh, and use Anemone Letterpress . I guess someone else thought so also. The transparently debossed/letterpressed cards we did for  Justine Ungaro are being featured on FPO (for print only). It is a really wonderful inspirational blog dedicated to all things printed. We are thrilled and honored. Thank you!
